I would expect the first invocation to be Mary Mother of God rather than Mary our mother. The title, Mother of God, is one of the most ancient titles and was central to the development of christology.

You're right, and I appreciate the reminder about the role of the title Theotokos in the Christological debate between Nestorius and Cyril. And yet, even John Becker's original text begins, "Mary and Joseph..." In any case, I've changed the first line.

Thanks!
Diana

If it's a litany for our diocese we do not have a parish called Mother of God.
